Paarh a film shooted in the vicinities of a village in Malda portrays the ill effects of the flood. It is a story of Man Vs Nature. How settlers of riverbank become a neo refugee in their own homeland is the subject of the film Soil erosion is a problem since ages in our country It refers to several forms of mass wasting that include a wide range of ground movements such as rockfalls, deep-seated slope failures, mudflows and debris flows. Gravity is the primary driving force for soil erosion to occur but there may be many other reasons that make a slope prone to failure triggered by some specific events like Floods and rainfall. Debutant director etched the gap between reel and real-life problems of Flood stricken areas during monsoon season through his film Paarh. Centering around the Protagonist of the film, the film rolls itself almost on a roller coaster ride through various events turns and turmoils where Flood acts as the villain destroying the village killing people and separating families. The story revolves around a family whose life turns topsy turvy in tune with the changing course of River Ganges. The film ends on a happy note with reunition of the protagonist's family. The film is a well-knitted combination of Documentation and Dramatisation blended together. Documentation needs elaborate articulations and explanations of various events through people's personal viewpoints and analyzed through various documents and research work, capturing the minute details of people's problems and portraying them through dramatization feeds the genesis of Film Making. All in all a must-watch to understand what people face during Floods in Flood Stricken Areas.—Raj Banerjee
